Lalit Modi, who started IPL i.e. Indian Premier League, is entangled in many legal cases in India. But he claims himself innocent. In a recent interview, he said that he will not change his lifestyle for anyone and he spends Rs 10-12 crores a week. During this interview he also told from where he earns money.
While talking to ANI, Lalit Modi said, ‘I did not do anything wrong… I told you that I was born with a diamond spoon. When you accuse me of taking a few crores of rupees, I tell you that I earn more than that in a day. We are the biggest… the company is very big in the world. Its market value is Rs 2.5 lakh crore.
Lalit Modi also said in the interview that he earns money through family business and other initiatives. He said, ‘I am part of it. I am a business owner. I have gifted it to my children. My children own it. My children bear my expenses. I live in a very beautiful house. I am living the most wonderful life.
He further said in the conversation that ‘I go everywhere. How do you think I do this? why the hell? I take Rs 10-12 crores… it doesn’t last even a week… it is like that. I was born with it. Why should I change my lifestyle for anyone? Why did I start living my life for someone else? My grandfather didn’t do this. My father did not live for anyone else.
During all this, Modi was also questioned about fugitive Vijay Mallya. He said, ‘He is my friend. Vijay’s story is different. Ok? I don’t know what his problem is. But his case was related to banks and things like that. Look, we never borrowed from anyone. I never took money from anyone. I had no money to take from anyone. I have just given the money, just paid. There is no bank loan or anything like that in any of our businesses, nor do we have any government contracts. We are a consumer brand. We are the biggest brand in the world. We make Marlboro. This is the number one brand in the world.
