CSK gets a big blow amid IPL 2026, the highest run scorer is out of the entire season.


Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a big blow during IPL 2026. The team’s young star batsman Ayush Mhatre has been out of the entire season. The franchise officially announced Mhatre’s exit. Chennai is already going through a bad phase. The team has won only 2 out of 6 matches. The team has faced defeat in 4 matches.

The franchise issued an official statement regarding Mhatre on social media, writing, “Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of the remaining matches of IPL 2026 due to a left hamstring injury sustained while batting during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18. Ayush’s injury will require 6 to 8 weeks of rehab.”

Most runs for Chennai

Ayush Mhatre played 6 league matches for Chennai in the season, batting in 6 innings he scored 201 runs at an average of 33.50 and strike rate of 177.87. During this period, he has scored 2 half-centuries, in which the high score was 73 runs. Till now Mhatre is the highest run scoring batsman for Chennai. In the list, the team’s wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson is at second place with 192 runs.

Ayush Mhatre’s IPL career

Ayush made his IPL debut in the last season i.e. 2025. He was a part of Chennai in both the seasons. The young opener has played 13 matches in the tournament so far. Batting in 13 innings of these matches, he has scored 441 runs at an average of 33.92 and strike rate of 183.75. During this period, he has scored 3 half-centuries, in which the high score was 94 runs.
