US Iran news: President Donald Trump has extended the ceasefire amid the crisis over the second round of peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan. He said that the ceasefire will remain extended until Iran presents its proposal. The discussion between the two parties is not complete. Trump said he did this on the request of Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. However, Trump also talked about continuing the blockade on the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s government is divided – Trump
President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social about extending the ceasefire. He wrote, “Based on the fact that Iran’s government is seriously divided, which is not unexpected. At the request of Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, we have been asked to postpone our attack on Iran until their leaders and representatives come forward with a united proposal.”
Trump said that I have directed my military to continue the blockade and, in all other respects, to remain fully prepared and capable.
The US President said that I am extending the ceasefire until his proposal is presented and discussions, in whatever form, are completed.
Earlier I had said – I will not extend the ceasefire.
Trump has again changed his stance amid the ongoing war with Iran. Before this they were continuously saying that the ceasefire would not go ahead. Let us tell you that on April 8, there was a 14-day ceasefire between America and Iran, which was going to end on April 22.
Suspense remains on Islamabad talks
The first round of peace talks between America and Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan had failed. Both could not reach any agreement. Now Pakistan is trying for the second round of talks between them, for which America is ready to send its delegation, but Iran is not showing any interest in the talks.
Iran clearly says that talks cannot take place amidst threats. Apart from this, it has also placed a condition before America for talks to remove the blockade from Hormuz. Meanwhile, there is also news that the visit of US Vice President JD Vance to Islamabad has also been postponed. In such a situation, there is uncertainty regarding peace talks also.
