US President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social that an Iranian cargo ship named TOUSKA, which is approximately 900 feet long and weighs almost as much as an aircraft carrier, was trying to bypass our naval blockade, but its attempt was not successful.
He said the US Navy’s guided missile destroyer USS SPRUANCE intercepted TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman and gave it a clear warning to stop. The Iranian crew ignored this warning, following which our naval ship blasted a hole in their engine room and trapped them there. At this time, the US Marines have taken this ship into their custody.
According to Trump, US Treasury sanctions are applicable on the TOUSKA ship because it has a long history of involvement in illegal activities. The ship is now completely in our custody, and we are examining its contents.
What will happen to the second round of talks?
Even though there is a two-week ceasefire going on between America and Iran, tension remains on the Strait of Hormuz. This attack by America on the Iranian ship took place just before the efforts for the second round of talks. America is sending its delegation to Islamabad, Pakistan on Monday (April 20) for talks, whereas Iran is not yet ready to participate in these talks.
