Shreyas Iyer Next T20I Captain: Shreyas Iyer is sure to become the next T20 captain of India. He will replace Suryakumar Yadav. However, the issue of T20 captaincy was not officially discussed in the online meeting of the Apex Council.
But, top officials have been informed about the desire to appoint Shreyas Iyer as captain. Probably, Shreyas will be consulted in the meeting to be held on June 6 for the selection of the captain.
Tilak Verma will become the vice-captain
There has also been talk of making Tilak Verma the vice-captain. Along with making Shreyas the captain, top BCCI officials have also agreed to make Tilak the vice-captain. The decision to make Shreyas the captain and Tilak the vice-captain has been taken unanimously by the selectors and coaches.
Squad will be released on 06th June
Team India will be announced for the T20 series to be held on Ireland tour on June 6, in which Iyer will be officially announced as the captain.
A question is also arising whether T20 World Cup winning captain Surya will get a place in the team after his removal from the captaincy? A clear answer to this has not been found, but from the hint somewhere it becomes clear that Surya will not get a place in the team either. Surya’s name was not included in the list of probable players released for the Asian Games. Somewhere from this it becomes clear that Surya has been completely relieved.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi also hopes to get a place
Vaibhav Suryavanshi is also expected to get a place on the Ireland tour. 15 year old Vaibhav was the highest run scorer in IPL 2026. He scored 776 runs in 16 innings of the season, which included 1 century and 5 half-centuries.
