In the 29th match of IPL 2026, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had to face defeat by 54 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday. LSG captain Rishabh Pant said that it is very difficult to give any single reason for the defeat. However, he gave credit for the victory to Punjab Kings, who performed brilliantly in this match.
After the fourth defeat this season, Rishabh Pant said, “Look, it is a bit difficult to give any single reason for the defeat, because the bowlers have performed well, but at the same time there are some things which need to be paid attention to. However, there were some positive things for us, which we can work on. We got to see some glimpses of the batting, which we talked about. We would definitely like to take some positive things with us, but at the same time we want to move forward as a team. Generally, we will try to perform well in every match.”

Talking about the decision to field Ayush Badoni as an opener in batting, Pant said, “I think the idea behind it was that he should go on the field and play freely without any pressure. This decision was not taken today itself. It was already decided that he would open. It was just a thing which we kept to ourselves. We wanted the top order to get some freedom and the middle order should also contribute. We have full confidence in this team. However, at the same time, when the opposition is playing well, as Punjab Kings are playing right now, you have to give them credit for how strong and good cricket they are playing.”
