Prime Minister Modi reached Australia after completing a three-day visit to Indonesia. Australian PM Anthony Albanese welcomed him at Government House in Victoria. After this, PM Modi was given guard of honour. Addressing a joint press conference in Melbourne, PM Modi described terrorism as the biggest challenge for the entire humanity and stressed the need to increase global cooperation against it.
In a joint press conference with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Melbourne, both the leaders strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and the attack on Bondi Beach. He also strongly criticized the countries promoting terrorism. Both the leaders reiterated the need for strict action against the funding networks of terrorists.
Terrorism is a serious challenge for the entire humanity – PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “India and Australia believe that terrorism is a serious challenge not only for any one country, but for the entire humanity. Therefore, our fight against terrorism is also shared, our resolve is also unwavering and our cooperation is also getting stronger. We also believe that the resolution of tensions and wars going on in many parts of the world is possible only through dialogue and diplomacy. Together we will further strengthen peace, stability, freedom of movement and rules-based order in the entire Indo Pacific region.”
India-Australia two vibrant democracies-PM Modi
PM Modi said, “India and Australia are two vibrant democracies, two multi-cultural societies, and two important major powers. Our commonalities and our common world-view inspire us to move forward with deep mutual trust. Our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has made unprecedented progress over the years and today’s third annual summit adds many new dimensions to our cooperation.”
Relationships made special through cricket
Speaking on the relations between India and Australia, PM Modi said, “Today when we are in Melbourne, not talking about sports would be like not starting the match after the toss in cricket…Cricket is its own diplomatic language of India-Australia relations, hence our meeting also looks like cricket…In the coming years, big events like Olympics and Commonwealth Games will be organized in both the countries and this will only increase our sports cooperation and will create many possibilities in the sports infrastructure.”
