PM Modi Italian Visit: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Italy, his last stop in his five-nation tour. PM reached Italy on 19 May. Today on Wednesday, many issues were discussed in the bilateral talks between PM Modi and Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni.
At the same time, in the joint press conference, PM Modi said, ‘In the last three and a half years, I have had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Meloni several times. This reflects the close cooperation and harmony between India and Italy. In the talks, the PM also mentioned the increase in bilateral trade between the two countries. The PM also thanked Meloni for his cooperation in concluding the India-European Union Free Trade (EU FTA) agreement.

I am glad that we are upgrading our relations and announcing a Special Strategic Partnership.
He further said, ‘The India-Italy Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029 provides a practical and futuristic framework to our partnership. We are moving forward on this in a time bound manner. Our joint efforts are accelerating bilateral trade towards the target of 20 billion euros. More than 800 Italian companies present in India are actively contributing to India’s growth story. There is a new enthusiasm and new confidence among the business leaders of both the countries.
Terrorism is a serious challenge for humanity
Prime Minister Narendra Modi further said, ‘India and Italy are unanimous that terrorism is a serious challenge to humanity. Our joint initiative against terror financing has set an important example for the entire world. India and Italy have given a clear message that responsible democracies not only condemn terrorism but also take concrete steps to break its financial networks.
He further said, ‘We have been in constant touch regarding Ukraine, West Asia and other tensions. India’s view is clear that all problems should be solved through dialogue and diplomacy. Will work together on shipping and ports
In the joint press conference, PM Modi said, ‘Our defense industrial roadmap has paved the way for co-development and co-production. As maritime powers, close cooperation between India and Italy in the area of connectivity is natural. We will work together on shipping and ports.
He further said, ‘Italy is globally famous for design and precision. India is recognized as a powerhouse of scale, talent and affordable innovation. Therefore, we will proceed on the principle of designing and developing in India and Italy and then distributing it.
