Six people were killed and five were injured in a gas explosion at a liquid gas filling station in Uzbekistan’s southern Kashkadarya region. The press service of the Uzbek Emergency Ministry gave this information on Monday.
He said four vehicles were also damaged in the fire that followed the blast, including two trucks carrying gas and two underground fuel storage tanks.
In Uzbekistan, in addition to piped natural gas, many businesses and households use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
This incident follows a similar tragedy that occurred in the same area less than a year ago. In July 2025, a massive fire broke out at a local gas filling station in Kukdalya district of Kashkadarya following a massive explosion in a fuel storage tank. Four people died in that blast and the country’s health and emergency ministries had to take high-level steps.
The frequency of such fatal accidents continues to raise concerns about the safety of infrastructure and compliance with regulations at fuel stations across the country, which has led the government to conduct large-scale safety checks in the past.
