It has been 19 days since the ongoing war between Iran and Israel-America. Iran was just recovering from the shock of the death of its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei when Israel also killed Iran’s top security official Ali Larijani and IRGC’s Basij Force commander General Ghulam Reza Suleimani.
After Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death, his son Mujtaba Khamenei was appointed his successor, but he has not yet been seen in public and Israel suspects he is injured. Iran has lost its top 6 top leaders and security officials in this war. 6 out of the top 7 leaders of Iran have been killed by America and Israel together.
Iran has suffered its biggest loss so far in the joint attacks of America and Israel. Many top leaders of Iran have been killed in this war, from the Supreme Leader to the Security Chief. This war started on 28 February 2026, when America and Israel carried out massive air strikes on Iran. The first target of these attacks was Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (death)
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was the most powerful person in the country. He was in this post since 1989. Had final authority over the army, judiciary and major political decisions. His complex in Tehran was attacked on February 28, in which he died.
Ali Larijani (death)
Ali Larijani belonged to a famous political family of Iran. His brother Sadak has been the chief judge of Iran, while the other brother Mohammad Javad was a foreign policy advisor. Ali Larijani was the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, i.e. the country’s security chief. He had also previously been the speaker of the Parliament and played an important role in nuclear negotiations and foreign policy. He was running the country after Khamenei’s death. His death has been confirmed in the Israeli attack, which is considered a bigger blow to Iran than Khamenei’s death.
Ali Shamkhani (death)
Ali Shamkhani was the head of the National Defense Council and senior security advisor to the Supreme Leader. He was also a former Defense Minister and made significant contributions to the regional security strategy. He died in Israeli-American attacks during the war.
Mohammad Pakpour (death)
Mohammad Pakpour was the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). IRGC is the most powerful military organization of Iran. They were responsible for military operations and internal security. He died in the initial wave of the war.
Amir Nasirzadeh (death)
Amir Nasirzadeh was the Defense Minister of Iran. He was the head of weapons development, drone and aviation programs. Had previously been a senior Air Force officer. He died in an Israeli attack.
Abdul Rahim Mousavi (death)
Abdul Rahim Mousavi was the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran. They were responsible for coordination and defense strategy among different parts of the army. They were also killed in Israeli attacks.
President Masoud Pejeshkian, one of the biggest faces of Iran, is now alive and is handling the administrative system of the country. But Iran’s system has been badly affected by the death of the Supreme Leader and other top military-security officials.
