Iran US War: Amidst the deepening crisis in West Asia, United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Keir Starmer has given a big blow to US President Donald Trump. Starmer has clearly said that his country will not get involved in the Iran war and its main goal is to reduce tension in the Gulf region and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Keir Starmer said on Wednesday that the war in the Middle East is not his, and he will not get involved in the fight. Starmer said in his address that the war will affect them, but the UK has a plan to emerge as a more secure country. Emphasizing ongoing diplomatic efforts, he said, “To this end, we are exploring every diplomatic avenue that is available to us.”
PM Starmer will unite 35 countries to open Hormuz
Starmer added: “The Foreign Secretary and the Chancellor have met with their counterparts in the G7. The Defense Secretary has been talking to our partners in the Middle East and the UK has now brought together 35 countries in support of our statement of intent to work together to boost maritime security in the Gulf region.”
Britain will soon host a meeting of these countries. The British PM says that there will be discussions with military planners on making the Strait of Hormuz safe. This initiative by Starmer comes at a time when the global energy crisis is deepening due to the ongoing war in Iran and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz. It is noteworthy that the Strait of Hormuz is an important sea route through which a large part of the world’s oil supply normally passes.
Trump wants to deal with Iran
US President Donald Trump has said that he is seriously considering withdrawing from NATO. He has described NATO as a paper tiger. Trump said that he was already not very impressed with NATO and he thinks that Russian President Putin also believes the same. This statement has come when NATO countries refused to support America in the Iran war. America wanted NATO countries to send their warships to open the Strait of Hormuz, but they did not do so. Meanwhile, Trump wants to go to war with Iran.
