An important news has come to light amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia. According to reports, Iran is considering a plan to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). If such a decision is taken by Tehran, it will distance itself from the restrictions regarding the use of nuclear energy. Iran justified its move to withdraw from the NPT amid the ongoing war. During this, Iran cited bullying at the international level. This news has come at a time when it is being said that America is planning to capture Iran’s uranium.
Regarding this matter, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghai said that there is no use in joining such a treaty where the parties exerting pressure at the international level do not allow us to use its rights. Apart from this they also attack our nuclear plants. He even said that Iran has never tried to acquire nuclear weapons and we are not going to do so in the future.
Iran is secretly making nuclear weapons, America’s big allegation
America alleges that Iran is secretly making nuclear weapons. Making this allegation, on February 28 last month, America along with Israel attacked Iran, whereas Tehran has completely rejected this claim. Earlier in June last year, the US had targeted Iran’s three major nuclear sites, Fordow Uranium Plant, Natanz Nuclear Plant and Isfahan.
Iran was said to have transferred about 400 kilograms of uranium from these bases, which could be further processed for weapons use. America and Israel have long accused Iran of pursuing its weapons program. In such a situation, Iran’s review of possible exit from NPT is ongoing.

China also joined this list in the 1960s. India acquired nuclear power much later. When many countries started competing for nuclear weapons, a proposal was made to create a treaty for this.
The purpose of the NPT is to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons, promote nuclear disarmament, and encourage the use of peaceful nuclear energy. This treaty made in 1968 was implemented in 1970. Its emphasis is that nuclear weapons should be limited to only those five countries (America, Russia, China, Britain, France), which are considered “nuclear weapon states” in the treaty. Along with this, it gives countries the right to peaceful use of nuclear technology.
