Global Energy Impacts: The Middle East is currently sitting on a pile of gunpowder. The growing tension between Israel, America and Iran is no longer limited to missiles and drones only, but has reached the ‘black gold’ i.e. crude oil running in the veins of the world economy. Iran is now making a strategy to make the world yearn for every drop of oil. After the increasing threat on the Strait of Hormuz, now the news coming about Bab-el-Mandeb has created panic in the global market.
After Hormuz, now Tehran’s eyes on ‘Bab-al-Mandeb’
Tehran’s ‘War Room’ is working on a plan to close the very important sea route ‘Bab-al-Mandeb’ located near the Arabian Peninsula. The Strait of Hormuz is already almost at a standstill due to the war, so if Iran also blocks the route to Bab-al-Mandeb, it could prove to be like a ‘death warrant’ for the global fuel supply.
If the attacks continue, they will also block the passage of ships.
Iran has indicated that if the US and Israel continue to attack it, Iran may block the passage of ships passing through the Bab-el-Mandeb. According to the report, if America targets Iran’s new supreme leader or other senior leaders, then Tehran can implement this option.
Why is Bab-el-Mandeb the lifeline of the world?
The Bab-el-Mandeb is not just a sea route, it is the world’s busiest ‘lifeline’ connecting the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden. It connects the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean through the Suez Canal. It is located between the Arabian Peninsula and Africa. Not only this, the largest part of the world passes through this narrow path. Closing it simply means cutting off the shortest trade route between Europe and Asia.

Movement of oil tankers stopped through the Strait of Hormuz
The war has now reached its second week and it is also affecting the oil and gas producing areas of the Persian Gulf. The movement of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz has been completely stopped. Due to which a sharp increase in the prices of crude oil is being seen.
Oil and gas exports affected in many countries
This route is the lifeline of oil and gas exports for major countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE and Iran. A large part of the global energy supply passes through this route. This may affect the world economy.
