China News: The way technology is gradually spreading its feet everywhere in the world is really surprising. Now it is being used not only in professional ways but also for personal reasons. One such shocking case has come to light from China where a family created an AI clone of a deceased member.
This incident took place in Shandong province of China. An 80-year-old mother suffering from heart disease lost her only son in a car accident last year. Given his fragile health, the family did not tell him the truth and took the help of technology to maintain this lie.
Mother talks to ‘son’ created by AI
The family created a digital clone of the son with the help of Zhang Zewei’s team from Jiangsu province. According to a report in South China Morning Post, this AI “son” now talks to his mother every day through video chat, inquires about her well-being and answers her questions. The appearance, body language, voice, way of talking and expressions of this AI clone are exactly similar to that of that dead son.
This clone has been made using hundreds of photographs, videos and audio recordings of the deceased person. The result is that he now seems as real as the dead man. This clone has been made by the son of a man who was hiding the news of his only son’s death from his grandmother.
News of son’s death hidden from mother
That elderly woman talks to that AI clone considering him as her real son. She asks her son to eat food on time, wear warm clothes and take care of himself while going out. In response, that AI son also agrees to his words. He says that he has gone to work in another city to earn money and cannot return to her now.
During a conversation, mother said – “You should call me more often so that I know whether you are living well in another city or not. I am missing you a lot. I am very sad that I am not able to meet you”. In response, the son said – “Okay mother. I am very busy. I cannot talk to you for long. You take care of yourself. When I have enough money, I will return home.”
