The US is enforcing a blockade of Iranian ports after talks with Iran broke down in Pakistan this weekend. And the leaders of Britain and France are holding a virtual summit to discuss ways to restart shipping through the vital waterway given the threat of landmines.
A deal is about to be made with Iran: Trump
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump said that a deal is going to be made with Iran. On Thursday he claimed, “We will get victory. Very soon.” He did not provide any details about the promise, but then again, details are not often part of Trump’s way of working, as they can take too long to agree upon. The talks on Iran perhaps prove this more than any other issue.
Trump has given Tehran two weeks to agree to the deal. That’s a lofty goal, especially considering the previous Iran nuclear deal, which Trump withdrew from during his first term, and which took years to negotiate.
