In a heated exchange during ceasefire talks in the Gaza Strip last year, US President Donald Trump told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that all Jews are fed up with you, according to a book published on Tuesday.
The book, titled “Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump”, analyzes the first year of Trump’s second term. During this time, America brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which ended the two-year-long war in Gaza.
According to the book, Trump vented his anger at Netanyahu during a phone call with the Israeli prime minister and his top Jewish American aides Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, telling him, “Everyone is fed up with you, Bibi. All Jews are fed up with you. Even the two Jews on this call are fed up with you.”
According to reports, the call took place during the UN General Assembly in September 2025, when Trump was putting forward his 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza and rehabilitate the war-ravaged area.
Earlier that month, Israel carried out an airstrike targeting Hamas leadership in Qatar as they were gathering to discuss a possible ceasefire agreement with Israel.
Although the main leaders of Hamas who were targeted in this attack were not killed, several low-level members of the Palestinian terrorist group and a Qatari guard were killed. Following the attack, Qatar, which until then had played a key role in negotiations between Israel and Hamas, refused to act as a mediator.
It was not clear from excerpts from the book whether Trump’s anger at Netanyahu was linked to the attack in Qatar. According to reports, Trump also told Netanyahu in the same phone call that he is not allowed to withdraw from Washington’s proposed ceasefire agreement for Gaza.
He told the Israeli leader, “I have been Israel’s best friend. Everyone hates you, and I have stood by you.”
