The Iran war has now taken a new turn. Houthis have attacked two oil tankers of Saudi Arabia. Its pictures have also surfaced.

Saudi Arabia’s state news agency quoted an unnamed official of the General Transport Authority as saying that ‘Encelia’ was targeted during its voyage in the Red Sea, causing a fire in the bow of the ship. “All crew members are safe,” the report said.

Earlier, UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a tanker was attacked by an unknown projectile 70 nautical miles south-west of the Saudi Arabian city of Al-Shuqaiq, causing a fire on the ship. UKMTO did not name the ship, but their location matches both the bright spot seen in satellite images and the AIS position broadcast by ‘Enselia’.

Oman appealed for de-escalation after Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels attacked two Saudi Arabian oil tankers in the Red Sea amid rising tensions with Iran. “The Sultanate of Oman is following with great interest the recent developments related to the situation in the Red Sea area,” the country’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry stressed the need to avoid escalating tensions and any threats that could worsen the situation and jeopardize freedom of maritime navigation.
