American media reported late on Friday night that according to American intelligence agencies, China is preparing to deliver new air defense systems (MANPADs) to Iran in the next few weeks. American media has given this information quoting three people familiar with the recent intelligence assessment.
The network said that there are indications that Beijing is trying to send these consignments through third countries, so that their original source can be hidden. The US State Department, the White House and the Chinese Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment on the matter.
China’s preparation to send arms comes at a very sensitive time. US intelligence is based on monitoring logistics activities at Chinese ports and airports. These preparations coincide with international efforts to stabilize the fragile ceasefire in the Middle East. Experts believe that this military aid can change the balance of power in the region. If military operations resume, it could further escalate tensions. Intelligence agencies are preparing to keep an eye on the route of this consignment until it reaches Iranian territory.
Meanwhile, Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Raza Arif says that if America talks with representatives of “Israel First” during talks in Pakistan, there will be no agreement with it.
Mohammad Raza Arif said, “If we negotiate with ‘America First’ representatives in Islamabad, there is a possibility of an agreement beneficial to both sides and the world. But, if we are faced with ‘Israel First’ representatives, there will be no agreement; we will certainly continue our defense more vigorously than before, and the world will have to pay a heavy price for it.”
