In separate incidents in Pakistan, at least 3 members of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) have died under mysterious circumstances. There has been no official confirmation of these incidents, but they have raised speculation and unease in security circles. The mysterious deaths of top terrorists in Pakistan have sparked much discussion, especially because one of them was said to be a close aide of LeT chief Hafiz Saeed.
These three deaths have come to light at a time when it is being claimed that terrorists planning and carrying out attacks against India are being systematically targeted inside Pakistan. Although defense agencies have not commented on the incident, the successive deaths of senior LeT members in different circumstances have raised questions about internal rivalry, target killing or other reasons behind these deaths.
The special thing is that these latest incidents have also been added to the growing list of senior Lashkar commanders killed in Pakistan in recent years; Many of them were killed in attacks by unknown assailants or during alleged infighting.
Ghazi Mumtaz found dead in Upper Dir
The first member has been identified as Ghazi Mumtaz, who is reported to be one of the senior members of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Mumtaz, a resident of Barahwal in Upper Dir area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was found dead under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is expected to take place at Nusrat Koto Primary School late Saturday evening.
Reports suggest that Mumtaz was earlier active as a Lashkar terrorist in India, due to which he received the title of ‘Ghazi’ from the organization and later he came to be known as Ghazi Mumtaz. He was believed to be close to Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed. His death is being considered a big blow to the network of the organization related to Kashmir.
Commander’s brother killed in hit-and-run in Bahawalpur
The second death is reported to be Mohammad Khuzaima Qasim, who died in an alleged hit-and-run incident in Bahawalpur. Qasim was reportedly the brother of senior Lashkar leader Mohammad Yaqoob. His last rites were performed last night and it is being said that many big people associated with the organization attended it. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still not clear and the local administration has not given any further information in this regard.
Third operative Khalid Bashir also died under suspicious circumstances
According to reports, the third name that has emerged is that of Khalid Bashir, who was another senior LeT operative and was found dead under suspicious circumstances. No information has been given about the place and cause of his death.
It is worth noting that in the last few years, many big commanders of Lashkar-e-Taiba have been killed in Pakistan. Although some deaths have been attributed to internal conflicts, many others have been linked to attacks by unidentified gunmen. Many other terrorists associated with this organization have also been found dead under similar suspicious circumstances, the reason for which has not been known.
