On Iran’s decision today to again close the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said “it got a little cute”, but Washington is in talks with them and they will have information on the matter by the end of the day.
He further said that they wanted to close the strait again, but they cannot blackmail us.
Briefing reporters at the White House today, Trump said talks with Iran “are going very well” despite the closure of the strait.
“We are talking to them, we will have some information by the end of the day,” he stressed. Trump said Iran “tried to be a little smart” in its decision to close the vital waterway.
Iran’s deputy foreign minister has said the US “cannot impose its will” and close the strategic Strait of Hormuz. This statement has come when Iran’s army has announced the closure of this waterway again.
“The Americans cannot impose a siege on Iran by imposing their will, while Iran is trying with good intentions to provide safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz,” Saeed Khatibzadeh, speaking to reporters during an annual Turkish diplomatic forum held in the southern province of Antalya, said.
At the same time, the head of Iran’s National Security Commission said today that closing the Strait of Hormuz was a response to “America’s unreliability”. Ibrahim Azizi said, “America’s dark history since the beginning of the revolution proves that unreliability is an integral part of Washington’s political doctrine,” adding that the closure of the filibuster was in response to “the enemy’s new deceptions.”
