Pakistan on Trump’s Proposal To Join Abraham Accords: US President Donald Trump has put Pakistan in a strange trouble. Trump has asked Muslim countries to join the Abraham Accords to normalize relations with Israel. Pakistan rejected this demand of Trump. Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that our stand is very clear that this is not acceptable for us.
In an interview given to Pakistani channel Sama TV, Asif said that personally I do not think that we should get involved in any such agreement which conflicts with our core ideologies. He said how can you sit with people whose words cannot be trusted even for a day?
The Pakistani Defense Minister also mentioned the passport policy of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan still does not recognize Israel. We are the only country in the world that does not even have the name of Israel on our passport.
Apart from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia has also shocked Trump. Saudi rejected Trump’s demand and said that until Palestine is recognized as a country, no steps will be taken towards normalizing relations with Israel.
The US President clearly demanded that Riyadh and Doha lead the next wave of signatures. He warned that refusing to attend would be a sign of ‘bad faith’. Trump wrote, “This should start with Saudi Arabia and Qatar signing immediately, and everyone else should follow suit. If they do not do so, they should not be a part of this deal, because it reflects their bad intentions. He said that as soon as our document is signed, he would be honored to see the Islamic Republic of Iran become a part of the Abraham Accords.”
The Abraham Accords is a historic political agreement between Israel and several Arab countries under the mediation of America. Its main objective is to normalize diplomatic, trade and security relations between Israel and the Arab nations, ending the decades-old hostility in the Middle East. This agreement was announced in the year 2020. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain became the first countries to normalize relations with Israel under this agreement. Later Sudan and Morocco also joined this agreement.
