Earlier this week, US Vice President JD Vance had called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and reprimanded him.
According to an American media report, in this phone call Vance had reprimanded the Prime Minister for making overly optimistic predictions about the ongoing war in Iran.
According to the report, Vance sought answers from Netanyahu on how likely he was for a change of power. “Before the war, Bibi had led the president to believe that it would be very easy, and that regime change was more likely than it actually was. The vice president was completely clear about those statements,” a US official, using Netanyahu’s pseudonym, told Axios.
After this phone call, a US official said that Israel was trying to weaken Vance. Let us tell you that Vance has always been a vocal opponent of endless foreign wars. He is participating in these talks with US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner for a ceasefire deal.
On the other hand, some reports were claiming that Russia has provided military equipment to Iran, but it does not agree with the allegation that it is providing intelligence to Tehran. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said this today.
In an interview with French public broadcaster France Television yesterday, Lavrov accused the media of blowing the issue out of proportion. “We have an agreement on military-technical cooperation. We have given certain types of military equipment to Iran, but we cannot agree with the allegation that we are providing intelligence to Iran,” he said.
Lavrov said that everyone in the region knows the coordinates (location) of US military bases. He further said, “I would not be surprised if Iran targets them.”
