The Israeli army has once again carried out air strikes on Lebanon. Air strikes have been carried out in southern and eastern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah and Hamas positions. Many buildings have suffered heavy damage in this attack by the Israeli Army. Israel also carried out two airstrikes targeting a commercial building located in Al-Ghaziyeh area of Saida province.
The Israeli army has claimed to have targeted Hezbollah and Hamas positions. The attacks come despite a year-old ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, raising fears of escalating tensions in the Middle East. According to Lebanese state media, the Israeli military had warned of attacks on four locations in Lebanon, including Kafr Hatta and Annan in the south, and al-Manara and Ain al-Tineh in the east.
Israeli army had warned of attack
Dozens of families fled their homes due to advance warnings from the Israeli military, and ambulances and fire brigade vehicles were on standby. The Israeli military said it was targeting Hezbollah and Hamas terror bases in Lebanon, claiming the groups were using the villages as bases for attacks on Israel.
Hezbollah and Hamas hideouts on target
According to media reports, Israeli strikes on Monday targeted several villages in southern and eastern Lebanon, including Kafr Hatta, Annan, al-Manara and Ain al-Tineh. The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the target was the home of Sharhabil Sayed, a Hamas leader in al-Manara who was killed by Israeli forces in 2024.
Lebanon’s president condemned the attack
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the attacks and accused Israel of violating the ceasefire and undermining efforts to disarm Hezbollah. The United Nations (UN) has also expressed concern over increasing violence in the region. Israel has claimed that the reason behind continuing attacks on Lebanon is that Hezbollah is rebuilding its military capabilities. Hezbollah has denied these claims, and said it remains committed to the ceasefire.
