A tragic incident in Texas, America has shocked everyone. Here a father shot his 23 year old daughter, resulting in her death. The incident occurred due to political differences and a debate related to guns.
This case took place in the city of Prosper in the state of Texas in January 2025, but has recently been in the news again in February 2026. British citizen Lucy Harrison was shot by her father in their home after a dispute over US President Donald Trump and the right to own a gun.
Came to visit father for holidays
23-year-old Lucy Harrison had gone to her father Chris Harrison’s house in the US state of Texas with her boyfriend Sam Littler. Lucy was born in Warrington, Britain and worked as a fashion buyer. She had come on holiday and was going to return back to the UK soon.
Debate started on Trump
Chris Harrison and his daughter Lucy often argued over politics. Chris had conservative views and was a supporter of Donald Trump. Lucy had a different perspective. Trump’s second term was about to begin, and at that time many news related to Trump were going on. One day there was a big argument between the two. The debate started on Trump and moved on to guns and some sensitive issues.
Argument between father and daughter
Foreign media quoted Lucy Harrison’s boyfriend Sam Littler as saying that the argument started when Lucy asked her father a question, “If I was the girl who was sexually assaulted, how would you feel?” According to Littler, Chris shot back, saying it wouldn’t make much of a difference to him because his two other daughters also live with him. Hearing this, Lucy became very angry and went upstairs to the room. She was very upset.
Chris had a Glock 9mm pistol
On the day of the incident, as Lucy and Sam were about to leave for the airport, Chris took Lucy’s hand and led her to his ground floor bedroom. While watching the news there, Chris talked about showing his gun. Chris had a Glock 9mm pistol, which he purchased a few years ago. Lucy had a problem with guns and often argued with her father over them. Chris took out the gun and held it up to show. Just then a loud sound came, Lucy fell down after being shot in the chest.
Littler told that he was downstairs, but after hearing the sound, he ran and reached the room. There was Lucy lying on the floor and Chris screaming. Chris told the police that as soon as he picked up the gun, suddenly a shot was fired. He couldn’t remember whether his finger was on the trigger or not. He said, “I picked up the gun to show it and suddenly a shot was fired. I didn’t understand what happened. Lucy fell immediately.”
Death due to bullet shot in the chest
Chris was drunk that day. Police investigation found that there was the smell of alcohol in his breath. He was an alcoholic and had been to rehab before. Lucy died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Texas Police investigated this case. Initially it was considered a death due to negligence. But a Collin County grand jury later did not charge Chris with any criminal charges. Therefore, no charges were imposed on Chris and he is free. Chris gave a statement through his lawyer that he accepts his mistake and feels the pain every day. He said, “I take responsibility for this loss and will carry this burden for the rest of my life.”
