The body of a Hindu college student has been recovered from the river in Naugaon district. According to local media, an unidentified body was found in a river near Kalitala cremation ground in Nagaon city on Saturday afternoon. Initially the body could not be identified, but it was later identified as that of Abhi, a fourth-year honors student of the management department of a government college in Nagaon.
After the body was found in the river, the news spread on social media, following which Abhi’s family, who had been searching for him for the last seven days, reached the river bank. His family identified the body by the clothes. The family told that Abhi was missing from home since January 11. Now they were searching for him everywhere, but he was not found anywhere.
Abhi, who was the son of Ramesh Chandra K, a resident of Santahar village in Adamdighi upazila of Bogra district, had left the house on January 11 following a fight in the house and was missing since then. The family searched for seven days at relatives’ places and other possible places, but when no clues were found, a general diary was lodged at the Adamdighi police station.
An officer of Naugaon Sadar police station said that the body has been sent for post-mortem. The cause of death will be clear only after the post mortem report. Family and local people have raised questions about whether the incident was an accident or whether there is a possibility of a crime. At present, police investigation is going on and the circumstances of the death are being ascertained. The family has expressed suspicion of murder.
