Tension between America and Iran has increased once again. The US military launched new attacks against Iran early on Wednesday. The attacks came hours after three merchant ships were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz. The US military targeted several military bases located in southern Iran. Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas and Serik were shaken by the US airstrike.
US officials said that several military bases and ports were targeted in these attacks. These attacks took place amid the funeral rituals of Iran’s former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. There are reports of some people being injured in the attack. Loud explosions have been heard on Iran’s Qeshm and Kharg islands.
US took revenge for attack on ships in Hormuz
Confirming these attacks, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that the US has launched attacks against Iran in response to the attacks on commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. In a post shared on
Iran will have to pay a heavy price – US Central Command
CENTCOM said, “U.S. Central Command forces have launched a series of vigorous strikes against Iran to target and attack commercial vessels carrying innocent civilians in international waterways, leaving Iran with a heavy price to pay.” The US military also accused Iran of violating the ceasefire and endangering maritime security.
America gave a big blow to Iran
Hours after three tankers were attacked with projectiles, the US revoked a license that allowed the sale of Iranian oil under an interim agreement between the US and Iran to end the fighting. These new attacks once again pose a threat to ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz as the world looks to restore normal shipping processes and ease global economic pressures caused by the war.
At the same time, taking a tough stance on the US attack, the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran has warned America of facing serious consequences. Iran has also alleged that America has violated the peace agreement. Iran has threatened that if these attacks do not stop, it will not shy away from taking any necessary steps to protect its national interests and sovereignty.
