US President Donald Trump shared a post on social media. In this he claimed that the prices of petrol are decreasing. He also shared a photo of a new gas station chain named ‘Freedom Fuel Network’. But along with this Trump posted a picture of a fake gas station.
Trump wrote that gasoline prices would be temporarily reduced on July 3 at 25 gas stations in the Philadelphia area. This is a patriotic campaign on the occasion of America’s 250th Independence Day. “As I promised, oil prices are falling rapidly. Gas prices at the pump are also falling, but not as fast as they should be,” Trump cheered in a post on Truth Social.
Trump praised this company and said that he loves America. He also appealed to other companies to follow this example. Trump campaigned on a promise of $2 a gallon gasoline, which he has not kept, while the war with Iran has kept prices rising.
The name of the station in the picture is written as “Freedom Fuel Network”, but in reality no such known gas station chain was found. In this picture there are 7 pillars supporting the roof, but only 5 pumps are visible. All the pumps are facing outside, which is not the case in normal gas stations. In real gas stations the pumps are side-by-side. Apart from this, the pump numbers in the photo are also wrong and repeated, like the middle numbers 2, 2, 4, 5, 8 are missing.
No real gas station chain named “Freedom Fuel Network” has been found yet. It is believed that this picture could be made by AI or just a concept.
Trump has done this before also. Last Thanksgiving he showed off a Walmart food deal and claimed to have lowered grocery prices. But common people know that the prices of everyday items are still high.
This post by Trump shows that he is using photos and small promotions to take credit for reducing prices. But in reality petrol prices are still expensive for many people.
