US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has indicated that President Trump may visit India early next year to finalize the trade agreement between India and the US.
Responding to a question about Trump’s possible visit, Foreign Minister Rubio said, “We are working in this direction that the President can visit India early next year. I think it is a very good thing. India is a very close partner and ally of America. The relationship between the Prime Minister of India and President Trump is very good, which I think is very important in diplomacy.”
President Trump may visit India next year
If the visit happens, it will be Donald Trump’s first visit to India since February 2020 and his first since returning to the White House for a second term. Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian, France, their first bilateral meeting in 16 months.
At the same time, PM Narendra Modi last visited America on February 12-13, 2025, at the invitation of President Donald Trump. The two-day visit was Modi’s first visit to the US since Trump’s second term inauguration and included wide-ranging discussions on trade, defence, technology, energy and strategic cooperation.
