Iran’s state media reported on Saturday that Iran’s military command has said that it is closing the Strait of Hormuz.
Let us tell you that Iran has made such an announcement because Israel is accused of violating the ceasefire in Lebanon and America has failed to implement the first condition of the initial agreement to end the war.
Iran’s top joint military command, Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, said in a statement carried by state broadcaster IRIB: “In response to the US’s bad faith and clear breaking of its promises by not implementing the first article of the memorandum ending the war, and the Zionist regime’s continuous violations of the ceasefire in southern Lebanon, we announce that ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz will be halted. But it will be banned.”
Both Iran and America have expressed displeasure over Israel’s continued attacks on Lebanon despite the agreement reached this week. It was clearly stated in the agreement that fighting should stop on all fronts including Lebanon.
About 18 people, including two children, were killed in Israeli attacks on Saturday morning. According to Lebanon’s civil defense and media, the incident occurred a day after the US statement that Israel and Hezbollah had imposed a fresh ceasefire at the behest of President Donald Trump.
The Lebanese News Agency reported that on Saturday morning Israel attacked several towns in the southern part of Lebanon. According to the agency, three people were killed in an airstrike in the town of Arbaslim and one person was killed in a drone strike in the town of Deir al-Zahrani. The agency said at least seven people were trapped under the debris. The Lebanese army said one soldier was killed between Kafr Rumman and Nabatieh in southern Lebanon.
