This shocking massacre took place in 2018, but now in 2026, the souls of the dead have got justice. Killer Paul Canero was convicted of murdering his brother, sister-in-law, nephew and niece and on Monday May 19, 2026, the court sentenced him to four life terms.
This massacre was so cruel that even the judge who gave the verdict shuddered. The judge also imposed an additional sentence of 16 years. Judge Mark C. Lemieux, who is hearing the case, said in his verdict that Paul will never get parole.
What happened that night?
On November 20, 2018, a fire broke out in a luxurious house in the Colts Neck area of New Jersey. When the fire brigade reached the spot, there was a horrifying scene inside the house. The bodies of Keith Canero (50), his wife Jennifer Canero (45), 11-year-old son Jesse and 8-year-old daughter Sophia were found. The postmortem report revealed that all four had been murdered before the house caught fire.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s investigation revealed that the killer was none other than Paul Canero, Keith’s younger brother. Paul first cut off the electricity, called his brother out, then shot him. After this, sister-in-law Jennifer was shot and killed with a knife. Both the children were killed with a knife. The entire family was killed in an atmosphere of terror in the dark.

Both brothers Keith and Paul ran a joint business. Investigation revealed that Paul had stolen the company’s money. Keith had written an email saying that until the stolen money is not recovered, Paul will not be given salary. Due to this, Paul decided to destroy the entire family.
After the murder, Paul went to his house and set it on fire there too. At that time his own family was also inside the house. The purpose behind this was to make it seem as if the entire family had become the target of a major attack.
Will spend whole life in jail
In February 2019, Paul was indicted on 16 serious charges. In February 2026, a jury convicted him of all four murders, arson and other crimes. Sentencing is scheduled for May 19, 2026, in Monmouth County Superior Court. Paul Canero will now spend the rest of his life in prison.
