Pakistan: Pakistan, which is facing economic crisis, is facing new problems every day. Once again a lockdown-like scene was seen in Islamabad, the capital of the neighboring country. There was darkness here after 8 pm. Shops remained closed and people rarely came out of their homes. Due to this, everyday life, business and industries were completely disrupted.
In fact, amid US-Iran tension, the energy crisis in Pakistan has started deepening. Due to this, revised market timings have been re-imposed for business establishments in Islamabad. According to the new rule, now all markets, shops and shopping malls in Islamabad will be closed by 8 pm. However, food outlets including grocery shops, bakeries, restaurants have been allowed to open till 10 pm.
They got exemption including emergency services
Apart from this, marriage halls, tent houses, party places and other event venues will also remain open till 10 pm. Emergency medical services, pharmacies, petrol pumps, dairies, sports facilities, call centres, data centres, IT and ITS companies have been kept out of this rule.
Strict action will be taken against violators
Deputy Commissioner of District Administration Irfan Memon has confirmed this in the official information released on social media. According to the notification issued late night by the District Magistrate, this new rule will remain strictly enforced throughout the week and strict action will be taken against the violators.
Energy crisis amid Iran-US tension
Pakistan was already facing energy crisis. Now the tension between Iran and America has further affected the regional energy supply. Pakistan is largely dependent on imported fuel. It imports LNG and petroleum from other countries. In such a situation, Pakistan has made new rules to save energy, fuel and money in the country.
Traders protested against the order
However, this order of the government is being opposed. The business community has come out against this decision. Traders argue that Pakistani markets open late in the afternoon and run from 11 to 12 at night. The government order to close the shops early will have a huge impact on their earnings, due to which small and medium shopkeepers in particular will be in financial crisis.
Why did the government implement the rule?
Let us tell you that Pakistan had already implemented strict rules in the country in March itself. But relaxation was given on the occasion of Eid. Now with the beginning of the month of June, new deadlines have again been strictly enforced for the markets. However, relaxation has been given for essential services. It is expected that the country’s energy crisis will be controlled effectively.
