Nepal Road Accident: On Thursday, a jeep slipped from a mountain road and fell into a gorge about 700 meters deep in Nepal’s Rolpa district. At least 17 people are reported dead in this tragic accident. According to local officials, the incident occurred in a remote area, posing difficulties in initial rescue operations.

The accident took place in Jaljala area of Thawang Rural Municipality when the vehicle slipped on a muddy road during rains and fell down the hill, he said.

Accident happened while passing through dangerous route

According to police reports, the vehicle was passing through a dangerous road in the hilly area when the driver lost control. Most of the 17 victims of the accident died on the spot due to the intensity of the fall. After this, emergency rescue teams and local residents reached the accident site to remove the bodies and help the survivors.

However, preliminary investigation suggests that poor road conditions or some mechanical failure may have caused the accident, which is a frequent occurrence during the change of monsoon in the hilly areas of Nepal. On the other hand, overloading is also being seen as a possible reason.

Had rented a jeep to attend the festival

Let us tell you, according to Sunil Thapa, Information Officer and Police Inspector of Rolpa District Police Office of Nepal, this private jeep was hired by the local people to participate in the Baisakh Purnima festival to be held in Jaljala on Friday.
