A Cessna plane has crashed in South Sudan, killing all 13 passengers and the pilot on board, according to the country’s Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA). The passengers included two Kenyan nationals and 12 South Sudanese nationals.
The small passenger plane, a Cessna 208 Caravan operated by Citilink Aviation, lost contact while flying from Yei to Juba International Airport, the aviation authority said. The authority detailed that the plane took off at 09:15 local time and lost contact at 09:43, about 30 minutes into its journey towards the capital.
Initial reports suggested that bad weather, particularly low visibility, may have contributed to the plane’s crash. According to reports, officials have sent a team to the accident site to investigate.
It is being told that the plane fell about 20 kilometers south-west of the capital Juba.
