US President Donald Trump has announced to extend the ceasefire with Iran. Trump made this announcement just hours before the end of the current ceasefire. This step has reduced the tension between the two countries and the fear of full-scale war has been averted for now. But with this announcement, Trump has also given a big warning to Iran regarding America’s blockade on the Strait of Hormuz. Posting on the social media platform, Trump said that Iran is now just trying to save its honor.
President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social, “Iran doesn’t want the Strait of Hormuz closed; they want it open so they can make $500 million a day (and so, if it’s closed, they lose that much!). They just say they want it closed because I have it completely blocked (closed!), so they just want to ‘save face.’
Trump’s warning to Iran regarding Hormuz
Trump further warned Iran, “Four days ago some people came to me and said, ‘Sir, Iran wants to open this strait immediately.’ But if we do, we will never make a deal with Iran unless we blow up the rest of their country, including their leaders!”
What did Trump say on extending the ceasefire?
Earlier, while announcing the extension of the ceasefire, Trump said, ‘We have understood that the government of Iran is seriously divided. Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif urged me to extend the ceasefire. We will not attack Iran until their leaders and representatives unanimously come up with a concrete proposal.
This decision of the Trump administration has come at a time when military tension between the two countries was at its peak. In view of the internal political instability of Iran, America decided to extend the ceasefire on the advice of Pakistan. It is not yet clear when any proposal can come from Iran, but the international community has heaved a sigh of relief with this announcement of Trump. The whole world is keeping an eye on the further developments.
