Mukul Chaudhary’s IPL debut season has been fantastic. Mukul, playing for Lucknow Super Giants, is in the headlines after his match-winning innings against Kolkata Knight Riders. He considers MS Dhoni as his idol and is also his finisher. By scoring an unbeaten 54 runs against KKR, he made LSG win the match in which the team had almost given up hope. His Under-23 team coach Chandrapal Singh told Times of India that he had hit 36 sixes in a T20 match.
The pitch where Mukul Chaudhary used to practice in Jhunjhunu was a black soil pitch. Adapting to the red clay pitch was becoming a challenge for him, then he contacted his under-23 coach Chandrapal. In Rajasthan, red soil pitches are found only in Udaipur and Nathdwara. This place was far away from his home, but in his passion of becoming a cricketer, it seemed insignificant to him.
Speaking to Times of India, coach Chandrapal said, “Mukul Chaudhary is very hardworking. I didn’t know whether Mukul would be ready for this or not, but despite the long journey, he agreed. He used to travel long distances, travel 500 kilometers by bus to play, stay at night and then come back. He used to do this three times a week, which was not easy.
Chanderpaul further said, “Once Mukul hit 36 sixes in a T20 match. We held a match with some teams. Mukul’s team was playing against them, I knew he would bat well but the way he played an explosive inning was more than expected. He was hitting very fast. He also practiced MS Dhoni’s helicopter shot.”
The coach further said, “The way he came out of his comfort in preparation for IPL 2026 has to be praised. He always puts the team ahead, he is a team man.” Mukul Chaudhary also impressed in domestic cricket, scoring 173 runs in 5 innings of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26. On the basis of his excellent performance in domestic, he was bought by Lucknow Super Giants in IPL.
