US-Iran War: Amidst the clouds of deepening war between Iran and America, a big news is coming out from the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The proposal brought by Bahrain to reopen the Strait of Hormuz has not been passed. Russia and China used their veto power on this important proposal and stopped it.
Bahrain had submitted a resolution to the Security Council aimed at safely opening the Strait of Hormuz, a lifeline for global oil supplies. In the 15-member council, 11 votes were cast in favor of this proposal, while 2 votes (Russia and China) were against. In such a situation, this proposal fell due to veto.
The interesting thing was that Pakistan and Colombia kept themselves away from this entire voting process and remained absent. According to the report, this proposal was changed about 6 times in the last two weeks to build consensus and strict words like military action were removed from it, yet Russia and China did not agree.
Tension has reached its peak after the proposal fell through. On the other hand, President Donald Trump has issued a very aggressive statement claiming that tonight will prove to be the most important moment in history. He has hinted at a direct attack on Iran’s power plants and infrastructure.
At the same time, the Iranian Embassy in South Africa has given a strong response to this threat of America. Iran says that if the attack happens, America and its allies will get a befitting reply from their ancient civilization which the world will never forget.
Canada and Europe advised to exercise restraint
Amidst the increasing conflict, the international community also seems divided into two factions. After Europe, now Canada has also advised America and Israel to follow international laws. The Prime Minister of Canada has appealed that all parties involved in the war refrain from targeting civilian facilities and infrastructure. At present, the eyes of the whole world are fixed on the Sea Route of Hormuz and the deadline given by Trump.
