US News: It seems that US President Donald Trump’s move regarding the Iran war backfired. Iran is not only facing the attacks of America and Israel strongly but is also retaliating strongly. Amidst all this, Trump started becoming a victim of criticism all over the world for his policies. Not only this, they seem to be under siege even in their own country regarding the Iran war.
MPs criticized Trump
In fact, some senior Democratic lawmakers on the House of Foreign Affairs Committee strongly criticized Trump’s handling of the ongoing conflict with Iran. In a joint statement, senior members Gregory Meeks, Adam Smith and Jim Hymes said it has been more than a month since President Trump started a war of his own accord with Iran. He is nowhere close to achieving his vague goals.
The lawmakers said there were no fundamental changes to the Iranian regime that would ensure it would no longer be able to pursue a nuclear program, build ballistic missiles or support terrorist organizations. It has also failed to provide relief to the long-suffering people of Iran.
He further warned that not only have none of these goals been achieved, but President Trump’s warfighting has had an extremely devastating impact on the region and the world.
‘A serious economic crisis has arisen at the global level’
The statement further talked about the loss suffered by America due to the war. It said this included the deaths of 13 US soldiers, hundreds of others injured, billions of dollars worth of ammunition used up and military equipment damaged or destroyed. Thousands of Iranian civilians have been killed, including more than 150 Iranian schoolgirls. Countless people have become radicalized against America because of the widespread destruction caused by Trump.
Democrats said that the policies of the Trump administration have led to a serious economic crisis at the global level. He said that there has been a huge reduction in the supply of essential commodities like fertilizers, helium and oil, due to which the economies of the entire world including America have been badly affected. Lawmakers also alleged that the conflict has engulfed the entire Middle East in violence and hostility and has created a deep rift in relations with key US allies.
Democrat lawmakers said Trump has humiliated, belittled and pressured his oldest and most trusted allies since coming back to power. Now the same allies are clearly refusing to support their war.
MPs made this demand
The lawmakers demanded an immediate change in policy from the Trump administration and asked, “What is the plan next? When and how will this war end? And how will the widespread instability and damage caused by this war be compensated?”
He appealed to President Trump to take immediate diplomatic initiative and said that we urge the President to immediately start ceasefire talks with Iran and find a solution to this problem through diplomatic means. This is the only practical and sensible way by which this destructive war can be stopped. Otherwise the situation may worsen and America may get trapped in another long, costly and irreparable war.
