Strait of Hormuz: After claiming his own victory in the war against Iran, America’s President Donald Trump has now prepared to run away. Meanwhile, he got into trouble regarding the Strait of Hormuz. In such a situation, many countries are now coming together to open the Strait of Hormuz. For this, Britain started the initiative and India is also going to join it.
Now Britain has taken the lead in opening the Strait of Hormuz. For this, an important meeting of 35 countries is being called, for which India was also invited by the UK. India is fully ready to be a part of this conversation.
Who will attend the meeting from India’s side?
In this regard, on Thursday (April 2), India’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will attend the meeting virtually from India’s side. America will not be a part of this meeting. Apart from India, many other countries are going to attend the meeting.
These countries can also become part of the meeting
This meeting regarding the Strait of Hormuz will be held virtually today itself, which will be chaired by UK Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper. The major partners whose names have come forward for this include, apart from India and UK, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, Canada, South Korea. UAE, Bahrain and Oman can also become part of this conversation. Apart from this, names of countries like Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Nigeria have also appeared.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that in this meeting all those diplomatic and political measures will be considered which can make the sea route safe. Also, the safety of the stranded ships and sailors can be ensured and the movement of essential goods can be resumed.
He said that after the meeting there will also be discussions with military planners, so that the Strait of Hormuz can be secured and operationalized after the end of the conflict.
The Strait of Hormuz is extremely important for global energy supplies. About 20 percent of the world’s oil and gas supply passes through this narrow route. Recently, oil prices across the world rose sharply after Iran closed this route.
We do not need to open Hormuz- Trump
Earlier, US President Donald Trump in his address to the nation clearly said that America will not take the lead in opening the Strait of Hormuz. He said that America has no need of oil through this sea route. The countries that depend on it should take responsibility for it themselves.
