Russia said on Wednesday it was “deeply outraged” by the reported attack on Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant complex. Let us tell you that this plant was partially constructed by Russia and it also helps in its operation.
“We are extremely outraged by this reckless and irresponsible display of a destructive path,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its website.
Accused America and Israel
Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency said a missile fell inside the plant complex late Tuesday night, but it caused no damage. The organization has accused America and Israel of attacking this facility.
Russia’s state nuclear agency Rosatom had said earlier on Wednesday that it had evacuated another group of its employees from the plant after news of the attack.
“Today, at about 7:20 Moscow time, 163 people left Bushehr for the Iran-Armenia border,” state news agency RIA quoted Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev as saying. Speaking to reporters, he further said, “Some people will stay there. I think there will be a few dozen people who will maintain the equipment.”
The country’s only operational nuclear power facility
The Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, located in southwestern Iran, was built with the help of Rosatom and was connected to the national grid in 2011. It is the only operational nuclear power facility in the country.
