ईरान ने कतर के LNG गैस प्लांट पर किया ताबड़तोड़ हमला, अटैक में भारी नुकसान… तो भारत की क्यों बढ़ेगी टेंशन?

Qatar LNG: The whole world is suffering the consequences of the ongoing war between America, Israel and Iran. On one hand, America and Israel are jointly attacking Iran. On the other hand, Iran is also in no mood to retreat. Gulf countries are being continuously targeted by Iran, due to which Qatar is suffering real loss.

Iran launched attacks targeting Qatar’s oil and gas facilities on Wednesday (March 18) night. These attacks hit Qatar’s Ras Laffan LNG plant, disrupting about 17% of its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export capacity.

Iranian missiles have badly destroyed Energy Trains 4 and 6 in Qatar’s Ras Laffan industrial city. Through both trains, Qatar used to produce 12.8 million tonnes of gas annually, which is about 17 per cent of its total gas production. It may take him up to five years to get it right.

Due to this, Qatar may have to suffer a loss of 20 billion dollars in exports every year. At the same time, India’s concerns have also increased due to this. India imports about 47% of its total natural gas requirement from Qatar.

Qatar Energy CEO and Energy Minister Saad Al-Kaabi made a big statement after Iran’s attacks. In an interview, he said that these attacks have completely destroyed about 17% of Qatar’s total LNG export capacity, causing losses of about $20 billion every year.

Minister Saad Sherida al-Kaabi said repairs would take up to five years. This will affect China, South Korea, Italy and Belgium. Due to this, we will have to declare long-term force majeure (release from the contract due to force majeure).

Al-Kaabi said that he had never imagined that Qatar and the entire region would be the victim of such an attack, that too in the holy month of Ramadan. This is even more shocking because such an attack has been carried out by a Muslim country. He said cessation of hostilities in the region is an essential condition for resumption of production.

Nearly half of India’s LNG imports come from Qatar. In 2024, India imported about 27.8 million metric tonnes (MMT) of LNG, with Qatar supplying 11.30 million metric tonnes of LNG, worth US$6.40 billion. This was about 47 percent of the country’s total LNG imports.
