Missile Sirens in Israel: Amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East, Israel has been attacked again from the Lebanese border. The Israeli military said that air raid sirens sounded in several areas of northern Israel on Monday due to missiles fired from Lebanon. According to the army, one missile was intercepted by the Israeli Air Force, while several missiles fell in open areas. At present there is no news of any casualty or major damage but people are nervous.
This incident happened at a time when America and Israel are continuously attacking Iran. After the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, Iran has launched retaliation, in which missiles were fired at Israel and some Gulf countries. Now this attack from Lebanon is instigating further regional conflict.
Hezbollah supported Hamas
Lebanese organization Hezbollah said on Sunday that it is its ‘duty’ to support Iran. The organization talked about standing with Iran after the attacks by America and Israel. However, Hezbollah had not previously taken any action since the attacks began on Saturday. The Israeli military posted on Telegram that a projectile was intercepted after sirens went off in northern areas.
Tension between Hezbollah and Israel is old. Even after Hamas’s last attack, Hezbollah supported Hamas, but a ceasefire agreement was reached between the two sides in 2024. Israel has since continued attacks on Hezbollah-linked targets. In June last year, there was a 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran, in which Hezbollah did not intervene.
What does India mean regarding the conflict?
Talking about the Indian perspective on these conflicts, oil prices may be affected by instability in the Middle East. India maintains good relations with both Iran and Israel, hence can appeal for regional peace. The war may drag on for a long time, which will affect the global economy. Overall, this incident is disturbing the delicate balance of the Middle East.
