Iran’s Revolutionary Guards say they attacked the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Gulf after US and Israeli strikes killed the country’s supreme leader.
“The US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln was attacked by four ballistic missiles,” the Guards said in a statement carried by local media, warning that “land and sea will increasingly become graveyards for terrorist attackers.”

USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) is the fifth Nimitz-class aircraft carrier to be named for the 16th US President and the second Navy ship to bear his name. As the centerpiece of U.S. Navy power, Nimitz-class carriers support and operate aircraft that attack air, water, and ashore targets that threaten the free use of the sea, and engage in sustained power projection operations in support of U.S. and coalition forces.” In addition to combat, the carriers and their strike groups also provide disaster response and humanitarian assistance.
The US Navy has not yet given any statement regarding the attack on USS Abraham Lincoln.
The US military says it attacked an Iranian warship at a port in the Gulf of Oman. The Central Command said in a statement on X that US forces attacked an Iranian Jamran-class corvette. “The ship is currently sinking at the bottom of the Gulf of Oman at the southern port of Chahbahar,” the statement said. There was no immediate comment from Iran.
