The US President held a press conference after the Supreme Court’s decision to cancel Donald Trump’s emergency tariffs. He began his speech at the press conference by saying that today’s decision of the Supreme Court, invalidating many of their tariffs, is very disappointing.
He rebuked some members of the bench, who said it was illegal for the president to use the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to justify his global tariffs. During this, Trump said that according to the decision of the Supreme Court, I can destroy those countries, but cannot impose a tariff of even one dollar.
Donald Trump insisted that “those who were wrongly rejected by the court will now be replaced by other means”. He said that I will impose 10 percent extra global tariff on all countries.
In his speech, Trump criticized the liberal Supreme Court judges. As well as those who agreed with the opinion that the use of IEEPA was illegal. Trump said, “The Democrats are very happy on the court. They are against anything that makes America strong, healthy and great again. Those judges, frankly, are an embarrassment to our country.”
Trump further said, “They are very treasonous and not loyal to our Constitution.” “My opinion is that the Court has been influenced by foreign interests and a political movement that is much smaller than people realize,” he said, without providing any evidence for his claims.
Let us tell you that these tariffs were imposed in April under Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’ agenda, which he claimed would reduce the US trade deficit and save domestic industries. Trump used the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose emergency tariffs. However, the Supreme Court has now concluded that Trump misused his authority by imposing the tariffs, as the IEEPA was reserved for national emergencies. It said the IEEPA does not give the US President the authority to impose tariffs.
