बांग्लादेश चुनाव में BNP की डबल सेंचुरी, पार किया बहुमत का आंकड़ा, 17 साल बाद लंदन से लौटे तारिक रहमान संभालेंगे देश की कमान!

Bangladesh Election Results 2026: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has got a bumper victory in the 13th parliamentary elections held on Thursday (12 February) in Bangladesh. The party easily achieved the majority mark in the elections with a double century. According to the Election Commission’s centre-based results, the party has so far won 208 seats, almost paving the way for the BNC to form the government. At present, the alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami has been able to win only 68 seats. However, counting of votes is still going on.

The total seats in the Parliament of Bangladesh are 350, out of which 300 seats are elected by direct voting. At the same time, 50 seats are reserved for women. However, elections were held only on 299 seats. In such a situation, the majority figure is 150 seats. BNP has easily crossed this figure. Along with this, it is almost certain that former Bangladesh PM Khaleda Zia’s son and BNP President Tariq Rahman will become the Prime Minister.

BNP’s first reaction to the Bangladesh election results has come to light. Claiming victory in this, the party has congratulated the countrymen on the big victory of BNP. Also appealed to the supporters not to celebrate this victory.

BNP said in the statement that instead of celebrating the victory, today supporters across the country should attend Friday prayers and remember former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. The party has appealed to its leaders, workers and members of affiliated organizations to actively participate in these prayer meetings, which will be organized across the country including Dhaka. Also, BNP has requested people of various religious communities to pray in front of temples, churches, pagodas and other places of worship across the country for peace, harmony and prosperity in the country.

This election is also very important because it was the first voting after the Gen-Z led people’s revolution of 2024 and the removal of Sheikh Hasina from power. In such a situation, everyone’s eyes were fixed on the results of these elections.

Tariq Rehman returned to the country from London after 17 years in December last year. Tariq was born on 20 November 1965 in Dhaka. His mother is former Bangladesh PM Khaleda Zia and father is former President Ziaur Rahman. Rahman entered politics in 1990. During the year 2001 to 2007, he became very influential in the party. He was known as a leader who made strategies from behind the power. During that period, Rahman was also known as ‘Dark Prince’.

In 2007, he also had to go to jail on corruption charges. Later, Tariq went to London for his treatment and started running the party from there. Meanwhile, he was convicted in cases like corruption, money laundering and grenade attack. However, when Sheikh Hasina’s government fell in Bangladesh, the court overturned many decisions against her. In such a situation, he returned to the country from London after 17 years and became active in contesting elections.
