In view of the increasing tension in Bangladesh, the US Embassy has issued a security alert for its citizens on Friday (January 30, 2026). The embassy has strongly advised American citizens to remain cautious, stay away from crowded places and avoid any demonstration or rally.
Instructions to stay away from rallies and crowds
The advisory said that during the elections, there may be political violence or extremist attacks, which may target rallies, polling stations and religious places like churches, temples, mosques and other places of religious importance. American citizens should remain vigilant and remember that demonstrations or rallies intended to be peaceful can become confrontational and turn into violence. You should avoid demonstrations and use caution around any large crowds.
Limited onsite services will be available on February 11 and 12.
