‘थैंक यू इंडिया’, UNHRC में भारत ने खुलकर दिया साथ तो गदगद हुआ ईरान, मुंह देखते रह गए पश्चिमी देश

India Backs Iran in UNHRC: Supporting friends in difficult times has been a strong identity of India’s foreign policy. This was proved once again in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). On Friday, January 23, when Western countries wanted to trap Iran and came up with a proposal against it. So India opposed the resolution brought against Iran on the UNHRC platform in Geneva and openly voted in favor of Iran. Iran’s Ambassador to India Mohammad Fathali has thanked the government for this step.

In fact, on Friday, a condemnation resolution was brought by the Western countries in the UNHRC regarding the human rights situation in Iran, on which India’s stand surprised the Western countries. India openly supported Iran on this proposal. Opposing this proposal, India voted ‘NO’ (in opposition).

7 countries voted against the proposal

25 countries voted in favor of the resolution in UNHRC, which included mostly Western and European countries like America, France, Germany, Britain. At the same time, 7 countries voted against the proposal, which included India, China, Pakistan, Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia and Ethiopia. Whereas, 14 countries remained abstained (neutral).

India strongly supported Iran by voting against this resolution. India made its stand clear to the western countries that it does not justify external interference in the internal affairs of any country in the name of human rights. In such a situation, the hopes of the western countries trying to isolate Iran in UNHRC were dashed.

In the emergency meeting of UNHRC in Geneva, a resolution was passed against Iran, which was to extend the investigation started in 2022. In such a situation, now UN investigators will also investigate the recent protests in Iran.
