In view of the current situation, internet and phone services were shut down in Iran. Not only this, there is news that the airspace of the entire country has also been closed.

In fact, people’s anger has flared up against the Iranian government and its supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Protests have been going on for the last 12 days regarding inflation and falling currency, which quickly spread across the country.

Protests intensified in Iran

At present, a large-scale anti-government movement is going on in Iran. Thursday, January 8, several reports of clashes between protesters and security forces emerged overnight. Efforts are being made to remove the crowd from the roads, but the protesters are not ready to accept. Incidents of arson and sloganeering are being reported from many places. So far 45 people have died in these protests.

Internet and phone services closed

Protestors turned more violent on Thursday following an appeal by Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran’s late Shah. A large number of people took to the streets and started holding rallies in different areas. The protesters took over the streets. After this the government deployed a large number of security forces. Meanwhile, considering the circumstances, internet and phones were shut down in Iran.

Reza Pahlavi wrote in a social media post, “Tonight millions of Iranians demanded their freedom. In response, Iran’s government has cut all communication lines. It has shut down the Internet. It has cut landlines. It may even try to jam satellite signals.”

During this, he also thanked US President Donald Trump. Raza further wrote, “I want to thank President Trump, the leader of the free world, who has reiterated his promise to hold the government accountable. Now is the time for others, including European leaders, to follow his lead, break their silence and act more strongly in support of the people of Iran.”

America’s open support to the protesters

America is constantly keeping an eye on the deteriorating situation in Iran. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned the Iranian regime of dire consequences if it opens fire on protesters and brutally kills them.

US Vice President JD Vance again reiterated America’s support for the Iranian people. He said the United States stands with anyone trying to exercise their rights to peacefully protest and freely organize.

Vance said it would be “the most sensible step” for Iran to negotiate with the United States over its nuclear program. He said that only the President will speak about what we are going to do in the future, but we certainly stand with everyone around the world advocating for their rights, including the Iranian people.
