After arresting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, US President Donald Trump has now given a direct warning to the country’s new interim leader Delcy Rodriguez. Trump said that if Rodriguez does not listen to him, he will have to suffer bigger consequences than Madhuro. This statement came after the US military invaded Caracas and arrested Nicolas Madhuro and his wife Cilia Flores and took them to New York.
Donald Trump said in a phone interview with American magazine The Atlantic regarding Delsey Rodriguez, “If she doesn’t do the right thing, she will have to pay a very high price, perhaps even higher than Maduro.” Describing Venezuela as a completely failed country, he said that reconstruction and regime change are better options. Trump also said the situation was different from Iraq, where he never intervened.
Will continue Madhuro’s policies – Rodriguez
However, Rodriguez has been completely dismissive of American interference from the beginning. He said that we will never again become anyone’s colony. He pledged to protect the country’s natural resources and continue Madhuro’s policies.
However, a big contradiction was also seen in this statement of Trump. A day earlier, he had quoted US Secretary of State Marco Rubio as saying that he had spoken to Rodriguez and that he was ready to work on America’s terms. Trump has claimed that the US will temporarily run Venezuela and Rodriguez has expressed willingness to cooperate.
But Delsey Rodriguez termed Trump’s claim as false and demanded Maduro be immediately sent back to Venezuela. He had said that Maduro has been forcibly removed, which is completely wrong.
