
Violence against Hindus is increasing in Bangladesh. Recently, Dipu Chandra Das, who worked in a Hindu garment factory, was brutally beaten to death. After this the body was burnt publicly. This case attracted worldwide attention and demonstrations took place against the Yunus government everywhere. In such a situation, Bangladesh Police has been forced to take action. Police has arrested Yasin Arafat, the main accused in the Dipu Das case.
According to the police, it was Arafat who gathered the crowd in the name of alleged blasphemy and hatched the entire conspiracy to murder Dipu Das. The arrested Yassin Arafat is a former teacher and taught at the local mosque. Police investigation has revealed that Arafat used his local credibility to mobilize a large number of radicals. According to eyewitnesses and police, Arafat not only incited the crowd, but he himself dragged Dipu Das to the intersection, where he was hanged from a tree and set on fire.

The story of Dipu Das’s murder is very painful. 27 year old Dipu worked in a garment factory. On the day of the murder, supervisors had forced him to resign. After this he was thrown out of the factory premises. A group of radical attackers was already present there.
Police suspect that some colleagues were also involved in this attack. It was he who handed over Deepu to the attackers. What happened inside the factory is also being investigated. Interrogation of the 21 people caught so far is ongoing. Police officials say that more arrests may be made. The incident has raised fears over the safety of minorities at workplaces. People of Hindu community are now hesitant even in going to work.
