Khaleda Zia was suffering from health problems like liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, chest and heart. He was admitted to the hospital on November 23 and was undergoing treatment since then. His condition was very critical.

After the death of Khaleda Zia, the reins of the party will now be in the hands of her elder son and BNP working president Tariq Rahman, who has recently returned to Bangladesh.
